Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps from the late 19th and early 20th centuries illustrate neighborhood growth patterns, construction dates, building footprints, building materials, and more. City directories can reveal who lived in your house and their occupation. Searchable newspaper databases can be used to reveal other biographical information about the occupants of your home.
